over heating but no lose of power

hi all, my friend just bought a 300zx TT he's over heating big time but no loss of power his garage says his head gasket is gone what does every one else thing please help asap.

    radiator cap can cause over heating.

    could be loads of things mate!! could be air lock, rad cap , nakered thermostat.....goes on and on . need to be bit more specific as to whats happening i.e..is it as soon as the car warms up ?? is it happening everytime you start it up , is there any water leaks?? ect
