No not nissan,A friend of mine who just opened a garage ,he has been dealing with jap cars for years .He told me he has got some software especially for the Z32's

just asked cos Nissan garages are generally useless on Z's :)

My money is on the PTU. Mine did exactly the same 6 months ago. Bloody thing would just stop for no apparent reason. Leave it for a while and it would start up fine - then stop 20 mins later. One day it went for a whole 60 miles before stopping. Put on a new PTU (£180 from the Z Centre) (make sure you get a series 2) and it has been fine since. I'm no mechanic, but this was dead easy to do. Took about 20 mins. I contacted the Z centre and they told me to splash some water (splash - not pour) over the PTU when the car stops - if it then starts, it's the PTU. It worked - PTU replaced.

You may find that a diagnostic wont show the PTU fualt up as its intermittent.

Hope this is of use.

something to do with vibration/temperature ruining the contacts in the PTU and when they cool down they make a good circuit again...

If youre strapped for cash you could get a known good S1 PTU, no guarantee it wont break again but a lot cheaper (thats what I did!, cheapskate!!)

lads this happened to my car today, was sitting in a 2 mile tail back and car just died, got a lorry driver to push me off the road.

10 mins later it fired up and I drove to destination, now it will NOT start atall

do you think I have same problem as toxic paul ? where is the PTU located guys ?

cheers Glen

p.s its liek the cars getting no fuel, but I can smell plenty when I crank it over, although I dont think I can hear the fuel pump, not sure on that one.
