Quick question. I know that side repeators are needed for the MOT but are they a legal requirement on the road? Would the cops have reason to pull me if I drove without them (they've been removed and smoothed over)?

Cheers,

Leigh.

they must be visible from the side

yeah there is a minimum angle round the car that indicators must be visible from, so I guess if you had wrap-around front indicators then you might be ok. I'm sure someone posts the regs up a while back.

Stick them in the targas :D

never had a problem most people don't know their there

Ive heard that if the car was designed with side repeaters that by law they should be there but as said above what mot station realllllllly checks up on the fact you have any!! Go on do it buddy!!

Don't get me wrong, although I've removed them and smoothed over the hole, it was always the plan to resite them (in different form) somewhere else; either fabricating some into the existing OEM wing mirrors or buying aftermarket, non Zed specific mirrors with integrated repeaters and altering the attachment plate to fit.

However, as I haven't got round to sorting either solution out yet, and since the car is drivable despite the modifications to the bodywork still going on, I just wanted to know if I could get away with driving it on the road in the meanwhile.

What originally made me think was that when she was in the bodyshop a couple of months back, I mentioned removing the repeaters and they said you only need them for the MOT and suggested I do as others have done and get some temporary repeaters with "sticky backs" wired in, keep them tucked away in the bay and flip them out for the MOT...

I don't have any side repeaters, never had a problem with mot or old bill, I use jap spec indicators and they are visible from the side just
