Hi All

I have a 90TT import which is suffering with extreme hesitation/spluttering when hot. Car runs fine when cold, but as soon as the temp reaches normal running condition it will completely loose power on all cylinders, then violently kick back in, it will drive for a while until the condition worsens and cuts out. Once cooled down she is fine again. Have read through some other threads and problem seem to indicate towards PTU. However I changed it for a know good one today and no improvement. Also noticed that she has been smelling of fuel when cold recently but could not find a leak

Any other ideas would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Andy

Just run an ECU check, Codes 12 (Mass air flow), 13 (Engine coolant Temp) & 21 ( Ignition signal circuit PTU) Been messing around with the PTU and temp switches, would that throw up an error? if thats the case is it likely the hesitation could be down to the Mass air flow circiut? However when I was playing with the temp sensor the engine started hesitating. Confused!! :headvswal

hi Andy

just wondering if you got your problem sorted as seem to be having the same problem. Ive narrowed it down to the air flow sensor.

Hi Chewie

Yeh, seems to be the mass air meter, just gave my conectors a good clean and she has been fine since, no diagnostic error, long may it continue!!!!!!!!!

Andy.

ive spent all afternoon taking it apart to give it a good clean but to no avail. would resetting the ecu finish the job?

resetting the ecu for a while, can sometimes clear running problems take for instance you had a code reading come up on the ecu with a certain fault, but then was fixed the error will still show up on the ecu, until reset

IIRC it will take a while for the ECU to learn the new values,i would reset the ecu by removing the battery lead for about 1hr then go for a drive come back and do an ecu diagnostic check and seeing what it throws up

cheers greg

thanks greg

Ill try that tomorrow after i explain to the boss why i didnt go back to work this afternoon. now its time for this :duffer:
