Well even if I haven't found out why. I now know whats stopping my car from going.

The injector in No 2 and No 3 cylinders are jammed wide open even with no power to them at all. They pump about a cup full of juice into the cylinders evey 3 turns. The other for injectors are functioning normally.

Anyone know what the fook is going on and why. I've been very lucky so far and not bent anything.

Try giving them a tap? or running some injector cleaner through? most places who try and sort gummed up or dirty injectors disconnect the fuel line and run a concentrated solution through it with pet mixed from another tank, helps clean up the intake valves too.

Other than that take em out and have a look, whilst your at it its a good excuse to put some bigger ones in :)

Biggest cause is shite in your fuel or a dirty fuel filter? when was it last changed, have you been running her real low?

Hi mate these are Brand Spanking New Nismo 555 injectors.

They are going to be tested next Wednesday, but i just wondered if the are operated by the negative instead of the positive so that if the current was passing the wrong way could they open fully and stick? Sounds daft I know, but its got to the point where its got to be something daft or that obvious we carn't see it.

IIRC, the injectors should recieve an ignition 12v, then the ECU sends a switched earth to control the pulse width.

you can check the solenoids by measuring the resistance across them :)

Thanks guys

Two more things to cross of the list next week. The biggest problem is its at dp which is about 40 miles from my place. If it was at my house I could get stuck into it over the weekend.

I think Steve-o has proberbly it the nail on the head with regards to sh1t as the car was almost dry. Told you it'd be something obvious. Will see next Wednesday.

I think ya (well I do) pannic abit when its your own car cause your just dreading how much more your going to have to spend on the bl**dy thing to get it working properly again.

Thanks guys

Hi Ian

No not really since simon and Chris left, but you know and I know I had to move her from GPS and it was only when I tested the alinement on the car that I realised she was running like a bag of spanners. I tried and tried to get hold of Johnny but there was no reply on his mobile or at the Gararge and next thing Chris told me GPS was gone.

I went there really to get 4 wheel alinement and steering geometry done. I then decided to slap in the 555's and new ECU and get it running abit better and let JD SET her up for me. Then this flooding (well you carn't call it flooding because the amount of fuel it chucks out is unbelievable) problem which I recon Steve-o has hit it right on, because my car languished at GPS for about 8 months and arrived at dp almost on fumes.

So do I. like I said previous I think cos I've had that much sh1t with getting the engine, gearbox etc built as I wanted and spending 3 times what I was quoted or wanted I just panicked at yey another problem and forgot to do the basics.

I had the same problem once

The problem turned out to be the brandnew lower O-ring of the "stuck" injector was completely messed up (probably happened when installing the injectors into the rail).

So it was actually not the injector itself that was leaking, but fuel was leaking through the O-ring.

Also...be VERY careful not to hydrolock the engine...cylinders flooded with fuel/water can do severe damage to the engine !!

Hi Ian

No not really since simon and Chris left,

Mark,Now I am scratching my head and wondering WTF is going on,I thought that this Chris bloke left DP and then went to work for GPS and that it was him that worked on your car,I thought you told me that this was the reason why you took your car there in the first place?

Correct. However. I think if you spoke to Johnny he'd even agree that Chris is a very good mechanic and knows the 300's very well. Anything else if you what to know then give me a call. If you've not got my number then ask Johnny. I know he's got it because he gave me a call on it yesterday. :)

Hi Mark, did you manage to sort this problem out? It sounds like I have a similar prob. Must be something they put in the fuel in Chester ;-)

Cheers

Hi Rob

This turned out to be baddly fitted lower injector O rings. Have you replace your injectors lately? The other reason this can happen is if an injector is stuck wide open. Do you know which injetor it is.

Yes, I've put up a post about it. I took plenty of care and grease when fitting. Seems most likely it will be an O ring though. I put up another post earlier today specifically about this. Looks like I need a new Dremel as I'm not pulling the plenum again just for 1 injector :-(

Cheers
