Hey people..

Sorry if this has been asked before, but ive abused the search button, but cannot find quite what i'm looking for...

Basically I would like to know what sort of prices I am looking at for a 300ZX none Turbo?

And if there are any common issues I should look for when buying?

Many thanks :)

Chris

PS- Ive a 200sx Turbo S13, PreFacelift In white if anyone wants to swap :)

£3k - £3.5k for a decent early example of a Non-Turbo. Although prices vary, and some sale for stupidly small amounts.

Any particular reason your after a non-turbo, instead of a TT ?

If its for Insurance reasons, then you'll find NA and Turbo prices are the same (for some strange unknown reason)

more reliability to be honest...

Always a bit cautious of my turbo deciding its had enough and wanting to leave via the exhaust..

Strange how u say insurance isnt much different, as ive been quoted around £670 for N/A and over £1000 for TT??

Can you recommend a good insurer please?

They both the same insurance Group......IIRC...might be wrong :x:

correct, i recently got a quote for the missus, for the wife for a tt and a n/a

via houghtons as a 2nd car and both came out at £218

If your Over 25 (they might have changed it to 30 now), then Houghtons is the Recomended Club Insurer. See traders forum section for details.

I guess some Insurers differ in wether they specialse their pricing for NA or TT.

yup...gone to 30...i still dont fookin qualify...nearly 27,...9years ncb..no points yet...costs toooooooooooooooooooooooo many zedtonians :slap:

Also, as all NA's are Imports, an NA is likely to cost more to insure than a UK TT. Rediculous. :slap:

As good as they are, just be aware that Houghtons will only insure the car if its kept on a drive or in a garage overnight, regardless of alarm, age,NCB etc. :(

Gutted, I live in the centre of town in a flat

IMHO Go for tt m8....u will only start to wonder what a turbo one goes like after a few weeks n wish u got a tt.

when my tt cuts boost to safety level (7psi)u think "man this is slow"....u get boost back and its "WAHEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"

only my opinion...im sure theirs a good reason for you wanting a N/A....

As for houghntons insurance...if you plan on doing any more than 3000 miles then it may not be a very good quote...i know...i do 23k per annum

good luck what ever you buy bud ;)

Hmm

Think I'd better be doing a lot more research into this in the morning..

Im with Adrian FLux at the moment, so will see what theyre like..

but im nowhre near 30, so i may dont think its going to be that cheap...

If you do high mileage then it might be worth trying Privelege.

I tried 8 eight companies including all the recommended ones and these turned up best.

Chris

I went from an S13 to a normally aspirated 300ZX and love it.

I have driven a TT and sometimes miss the extra shove. But I don't miss wondering how long before the turbos go (like in my S13).

A few people who have had both sorts prefer the NA too as its lag free. I'd still say the TT is the better car probably but don't dismiss the NA too.

I'm with Blackmagic on the Privelege statement........best price I found

Hmmm

how reliable (realistically, if serviced well and often) are the N/A Engines..?

Im not really bothered about MPG as i dont do a lot of Mileage, and if i was buying a car for economy, id buy a Mini or something.

Bottom end is suposed to be bullet proof :smash:

only possible chance there would be a bigend bearing shell slipping....only problems ive heard of.

Ahhhh Cheers :D

Also totally off topic - seems like a really friendly place on here too :D

Hi Iceworx, I drive a 300zx N/A with HKS full twin super drager 4" exausts, HKS superflo air induction kit, chrome induction pipes and a few other mods, and i have never had so much fun, I have also driven my mates T/T and that was spot on too once the turbos kicked in, so all in all what i am saying is driving any 300zx makes you grin from ear to ear whether its turbo'd or not.At the end of the day you can only go as fast as the car in front!!!

going lookin at one thats been taken as a trade in at a friends garage.. Fingers crossed
