so where am i up 2 nite then after working all day??

ok then main pulley,

jam a screwdriver into the hatch by the starter moter to hold the ring gear get a big torque wrench or t bar and scaffold pole!! 27mm socket for the pulley bolt and give it some!!!!!

fabricate a pulley puller like i did and pull that sucker off!!

take off the rest of the timing covers!!

put stopper bolt in tensioner and remove the tensioner and timing belt!!

remove camshaft pulley, im doing one piston at a time so i only pulled off 2 pulleys from the same side for now!!

remove camshaft, dont mix up the bearings!!

check that the other cams have relaxed and that all valves are up & refit main pulley bolt,

caerfully turn crankshaft so that it turns a full 360 degrees with no problems dont forget to pull the sparkplugs,

put screwdriver in piston hole number 1 and turn crank 2 find top dead centre of piston!!

thats all i did 2nite folks, 2mos must fabricate a valve compressor to work from the top, should be fun!!

and heres the rest of the pics

You will have it running by Friday !! :p

Valve stem oil seals on there way mate.

well no rest for the wicked!!

just pulled all the stem seals from cylinder 1!!

fabricated a spring compression tool that bolts to the top of the head and hey presto away you go!!

well im not blowing my own horn here cos i gotta get the damn things back in!! and this is the tricky part!! not the seals but the bloody collets!!

is there an eisier way to get the seals out rather than use a flipping long nosed pliers ??

i noticed that the valves were quite slack on the seals dont know if there meant to be tighter or what!!

any way heres the pics for you!! ;)

i must also make a drift to hammer the new seals back in place ( thanks alan for the seals  )

Nice one mate, you're making good progress! From what I remember after doing a Renault engine, the seals were fairly tight on the valve stem. There should be a little spring around the top of the seal, or at least there was on the Renault engine.

Have you got any pics of the seal?

Shaun

Oh yeah, I don't suppose you've had chance to talk to that guy who works in the tyre place have you? My back tyres are illegal!

Cheers,

Shaun

big blob of grease on the collets mate-----they stick to the valve and dont move untill you release tensioner :) :)

well at last i have fitted all my valve stem oil seals, but had to make a new type of spring compressor, the one i made was easy to use and helped a lot in removing and replacing the collets!!

i just hope to hell that i havent hammerd the seals home too hard if thats possible!! they look a wee bit squashed

here are the pics of the new commpressor i have made!!
