NZR - PC Problems

Help! I've reset the monitor on my very old PC laptop to a resolution that it can't display, the result is that when it boots up it goes through all the load procedure then just displays green and yellow horizontal lines. How can I reset this? I can't do anything with it at present.

I'm a complete idiot/dunce with PCs, I use a Mac (please don't hold that against me). smile.gif Please explain any procedure in words of one cylabul - ta!

If anyone can also send/email me a boot disk that would run on an old 386 I'd be grateful.

Thanks guyz

Oh bugger I can't remember..

First step, what OS? Win3.11, Win95, Win98?

If it's Windows 95 or newer, try this:

Power-up the machine and start tapping F8. Eventually an early startup menu will appear: choose the "Safe Mode" option.

Windows should hopefully start up with a basic screen mode. Once it does, bring up the Display Properties (from the Control Panel, or right-click an empty bit of the desktop and pick "Properties") and set the screen display to something safe smile.gif

I'm gonna be in the MAC camp come start of next year, especially as you can run Windows with an emulator now...who needs a Piece of Crap(PC)???

Hope you sort it Tim wink.gif

If I remember right - you can run setup from DOS and it lets you change things like that there...have a look....

I think I can remember....

boot to DOS, by holding the left shift key down.

Change to the Windows directory (cd windows)

run setup (type setup) you can change it there in the display part.

Hope this helps.

I did warn you I was crap with a PC!

I have modified the monitors spec through Doss (thanks Herman) now how do I get it to run Windows from the C:\WINDOWS> prompt? I type win and that doesn't seem tro work.
