NZR Toyota Town/Lite Ace 4 WheelDrive

Sorry for posting this in here (cant find any Townace forums) - just bought a cool little 4WD surfbus thingy, great fun, but the 4WD is a little quirky, does anyone have any knowledge of these strange little japanese imports??

I cant seem to engage 4wd mode frown.gif

Glen mate,

Has it got manual diff locks on the front wheels? Have a look, look like big caps in the centre of the front wheels which you may have to rotate to lock the diffs in!

Shouldn't have to on one of those though and you're not supposed to drive on the road with your diffs locked anyway! Knackers 'em big time!

Switching to 4wd mode on most cars is an arse, Range Rover is a right mare. When we had really bad snow last year and we lived down a farm track it was more hassle to get the fookin' thing into 4wheeler mode than get out!!! biggrin.gif

Timmy m8,

Do you mean the hubs rather than the diff?

I think you're talking about 'free wheel hubs', my SIII L/R has these.

Sorry to be pedantic biggrin.gif

Had them on a Hi-Lux we had, my Dad has them on his Daihatsu Fourtrack but Range Rovers don't have 'em...thank god...bloody pain if you ask me!
