I know there's a few of you out there that "bulk up", can any of you recommend a muscle building supplement? Progain etc?

I broke my humerus :smash: ( x-ray below!) on a recent stag do in Amsterdam :duffer: (I had only been there 4 hours!!) and 6 weeks on, my arm has just wasted away from being in a cast. I'm looking to rebuild it at a reasonable rate.

The worst thing is, I'm too weak to drive the Zed!!!!!!

Any help / advice?

Cheers,

Matt.

Yeah, thought of that, but it's my non w***ing arm! Could be useful to be ambidextrous though.

you never seen Rocky 2

where they tie his arm behind his back to make him use the other

then go and choke a chicken (or did he just chase one) :headvswal

You want to take a whey protein isolate along with soya protein. Dont touch progain infact dont touch aything maximuscle its shite and trading standards have proved so numerous times!

Stick with a protein/carb mix something from the states or CNP product will suffice. Soya protein you can find in any health food store. Supplement with a good zinc/copper tablet and your be back to normal in no time.

Acvtually if your arm is too weak to train it, train the other! Sounds stupid but its proven that uni lateral exercises promote growth in the opposing limb aswell.:D

What Mike said

Yep, not going to go crazy, but it took me 12 years to get my biceps, 6 weeks to lose, so want a bit of extra help recovering.

Got a bit of a Monty Burns going on one side.

muscle memory will kick in and it won't take nearly as long to build them back up :)

just be careful with the break, it can take a long time for a break to fully heal

Your find you gain the muscle back very quickly. If its been set for six weeks now its as fused as its going to get, so training will be fine. However stick with machines for 6 weeks, sleep alot and lay of the booze.

When I broke my wrist a few years ago, when the plaster came off my arm as really thin. It looked like there was no muscle on it.

The muscle was back to normal size in a short time, just by doing normal every day tasks.

my dads leg was surgically broken about a year ago now and is only 90% healed, that is after being in a cast for 6 months, all bone specialists we have spoken to have said it takes 2 years before a bone gets back as strong as its going to get

Dont always listen to what specialists say.

The number of times you hear them say some one will never walk, and they do. Or it will be years before they walk and they are up and moving at 6 months.

Thanks for all the relies guys, never broken a bone before, so don't know what to expect.

On a slightly different note, for all that's said about the NHS, I've had nothing but fantastic treatment. :hyper:

two totally different scenarios.... its proven bones strengthen up over a long period after a break. This isn't speculation its medical fact.

Depends on general health and most importantly age:D Your dad isnt 21 anymore LOL

Legs are a different scenario but a clean brake in the arm will fully fuse within 6 weeks. Infact NOT putting load on it will make it take longer to heal.

yes it will generally fuse but not necessarily, I'm not telling him to wait 2 years to work out, simply advised seeing his Dr for recommendations for levels of exercises etc, its not just the bones that need to heal also, muscle, tissue and nerve damage all have to repair themselves.

My dads been seen by the doctors that worked on beckham, rooney and cissey and all say after care treatment are more important than the age of a patient.

by the way your arm shouldt come into the picture if you train proper and dont over do it.......

did you damage any ligaments or anything like that coz they are harder to regain strength in and to refix is really hard, i broke my shoulder playing rugby for the army and i couldnt train for 18 months, just straight old fashioned physio....

but like i said mate if you need info tips and hints for you to get bigger, stronger, leaner, fitter, or just diet programs i do all that....

karl

Have you tried a creatine supplement, dont know much about it myself but taken after a work out it is meant to be vey effective at building muscle.

Do a Google search on it

HTH!! :p
