Before I possibly waste £60 odd quid on a new remote fob, is there anyway of testing my old one for signal strength? At times I can stand there for 5 mins trying to get the alarm to arm/dissarm and at other times it will work straight away. I just would like to know if it's the fob or alarm itself.

Cheers

It can be worth cleaning the switch contacts and resoldering all the joints inside -fixed my TV remote like that a few days ago.

Also, if it's an Infared rather than radio then you can see whether the LED works through a digital camera.

Have you tried a new remote battery, Vijay? When my battery is on the way out, it makes things a bit hit and miss.

yep, replaced the battery. Andy, I assume it's radio as there's no led :(

I heard if you put the fob to your head you can double the signal strength, think it was on top gear or something.

Yeah, that really works too. (probably gives you brain cancer or something though!)

What alarm is it?

an older cobra alarm (at least 8 years old)

Vijay

I will try some of my contacts to see what they say
