The car has started making a creaking noise when breaking or turning - especially when doing both (breaking AND turning)

Thing is, the car runs straight, breaks straight and feels like it is cornering/handling correctly other than that.

However, it also rattles like hell when going over bumps (of which there are many round here!!!) as if there is something loose underneath - sounds like the noise a train makes when trundling over joins in the track  .

When it was in for the clutch replacement, the garage noticed and fixed a split heatshield, but that hasn't cured the noise.

The car is running on 19s and has eibach springs/koni shockers, so I am not expecting the smoothest ride, but it feels like I am driving an old banger at the moment!! Is anyone else running that configuration and could they poss. comment as to whether there ride sounds as rough as mine??

Anyone got any suggestions/ideas??

Cheers

Rich

leaky shock?legrath has a creaking noise at the mo,been diagnosed with leaky front shock

mine was the upper arm bushes creaking, so i got rid & fitted adjustable arms with bearings instead

I had this, was a loose bonnet bolt :D, had it another time too, that was a connector rubbing under the bonnet ;)

lol fingers crossed Mike!!

Paul - I had the adjustables fitted not long ago, but I wonder if something in that area has come loose!?

Before the noise got a creaking, it sounded like a knocking particularly noticeable as the car rocked to a stop under breaking - thought that my brakes were loose or someting!

I'll get someone to check it out - after I've checked for loose things rubbing the bonnet lol.

So far it could be

Shocks,

Upper Arm Bushes,

Bonnet Bolts,

Tension rods>

Its an idea to say we dont know LOL ;)

I had something like this and it turned out to be lower arm from the crossmember to the wheel hub.

So there you go, it could now be any one of 5 things.
