Without naming any names, 'cos that's not the point, I just wanna warn other less technically minded/mechanically able owners like myself to be very aware of what is actually being done to their pride and joy when it's in a garage.

The case in point is this :- I managed to get hold of a set of Megan Racing decats and divorced wastegate downpipes from the states, and had a look at fitting them myself - but took one look underneath and thought better of it. So, I took my Z to a local 'reputable' specialist who duly did the work for me. Firstly, although initially satisfied, I noticed a couple of days later that the whole exhaust system was a bit wonky and was rubbing on the transporter hooks - so that had to be rectified. But, only this weekend, I was having my PCV's changed when it was noticed that one of my O2 sensors wasn't connected. On further inspection - I DIDN'T HAVE ANY O2 SENSORS!! They've mysteriously disappeared!! The downpipes fitted do accept O2's but still have the blanking nuts in. I wouldn't have minded if there was good reason for not refitting them, and I would have paid for new ones if required to, but I was never told anything about them. TBH, if it wasn't pointed out to me by someone who really knows their stuff, I probably would never have known.

So, my advice would be to get to know your engine a bit, make sure you use a garage with good forum recommendations, and CHECK EVERYTHING!! It's so 'British' not to pick fault and complain - but sometimes it's necessary!! If you know who you are - :nono: :slap:, no more business for you.

Phew, rant over :D.

No, only found out yesterday afternoon. Really can't be ar$ed with the argument to be honest - so I'll just get some new ones, as and when, and pay someone who REALLY knows Zed's to fit them for me.

I can't believe that, in this age of customer service etc., that people can still make a living by bodging jobs and ripping people off :headvswal

Must..........not.........swear :x: :x: :x: !!

Smokey and rich, but remarkably smooth at the moment bud.

Can missing/knackered O2's cause a bit of smoke then chaps?

Hey, what the hell, I might leave 'em off then!! MPG doesn't seem too bad, pipes go a bit black though - might try resetting the ECU to see if it'll drop the O2 values or something.

Hey, almost sounded like I knew what I was talking about then :D:D (I think JD said something like that on Saturday ;))

that would pi55 me off. you should take it back, you should not have to pay for them. :nono:

I know, but it was some time ago now, and I can't be ar$ed with the hassle.

I do seem to have the very rare ability of not getting wound up too easily. The way I see it is that this 'specialist' was getting regular business from me, which would have continued if he hadn't f**ked up like this. So, he lost at the end of the day - I've got a lot of money earmarked for my Zed, and now he's getting none of it  !!
