19's on a Zed. Opinions please!

As some of you may know I'm currently in the market for some new alloys to finish off my project Zed. I was dead set on getting 18's and have always sworn that I'd never go any bigger for fear of f*cking up the handling, however...there is a distinct possibility I may be able to get hold of a set of 19's in exactly the style I want in the perfect width fitment (8 1/2" on the front, 9 1/2 on the back) for a VERY reasonable amount of money.

So, my dilemma: should I go for it? Would there actually be any detrimental effects, and if so, what would they be?

What do we reckon people? Really don't want to screw things up! :)

Cheers,

Leigh.

Have a look at my rides section, I have 19s on mine and think they suit the car perfectly. Go for it :) Ive just bought adj Tension rods, front and rear arms to go on, so I can get the camber set correctly, dont want to be buying new tyres all the time.

You get a little more tramlining than the stock alloys.

Cheers for that bud :) I was also worried that they might look too big for the car, but the 19's look perfectly in proportion to the car body, which is reassuring!

I've got 19" blitz ZI wheels and they look great, slightly harder ride and some tramlining but looks make up for it

What about the cars ride hight though, I lowered mine by 30mm after fitting 19s because the car was riding higher, this wasn't just my imagination, the curb at work was cleared by an inch, when I used to make contact with it.

I suppose its all what you want from the car, but I like the z when its low, I see a zed round my way regular, with the body kit and what look like 20" wheels, it looks more like a mitsi evo than a zed,? just my thought and I know not everyone likes the same.

Mine's already lowered within an inch of it's life with a crackin' Bilstein set-up (check out my Rides or Journal for pics;)). TBH I'm a bit concerned I won't get any rubbing!

Like the other guys say the ride is a bit harsher but you get less sidewall flex on 35 profile tyres. Got to get mine lowered a bit soon.

here you go mate 19" OZ supers lowered on TIAN adjustables front hangs over the Wheel.

rear just about right could probably go a little lower. but looks fine still

tyres 235/35/19

:D 19's look great mate but  the price of good rubber mate is fooooking out there :(

I did look at 19's but the rubber price put me off :( so went for the 18's instead :D

B*LLOCKS! I wish people would get their bloody facts straight! Just rang the alloy wheel company back and luckily spoke to a different guy. He told me that he'd actually had a customer try the 19" wheel in question on a Zed and it wouldn't clear the front caliper....which means it would be even worse off on mine with the GTR set-up! He said that although they were basically a Veilside copy, they didn't have the same "x" factor (he tried to describe what he mean't by that but he wasn't very clear! Basically it referred to the amount of clearance you'd have between the alloy and the caliper).

If I hadn't spoke to that guy though I would've ordered them and ended up with a set of wheels I couldn't use, so I guess I should be thankful.

Bugger. Bugger. Bugger. Bugger. Bugger.
