Went onto a couple US sites today and they discuss it a bit.

Is it to do with fitting an aftermarket air filter??

I can only ask you guys these thicko questions without being too embarassed. lol!

Car came with a piper cross air filter, no idea how to clean it. Anyone else know?

THANKS

yep AFAIK thats exactly what they r on about m8, on the subject of cleaning i wouldnt know

Cold air induction is simply a way of getting (via tube or ducting) cool air to an after market air filter.Often cone filters (not on zeds) end up sucking their air from inside the hot engine bay which is not good,so hence the requirement for the cold air.

to clean the piperx - get some piperX filter oil (any piperx stockist) and then wash it in warm water, leave to dry, reoil and refit.

job done.

Thanks Clarkey/Jeff/Aaronjb.

Jeff it makes sense now mate. Hence the name "Cold Air Induction". I've got a cone one so I may look into the ducting idea. As the engine does generate a whole loada heat.

Aaronjb - cheers for the tech tip, I had no idea!

George,

You may already have some ducting, unless you removed the pipes that once connected to the original airbox.

Andyp,

Now you guys are making me feel bad.

Well its not really a 300ZX tech question, its for my 73 240Z.

I am going to do some mods next year and hopefully blasts my brothers Auto 300ZX! Ha ha ha!!!

(hopefully he's (AVA300) not reading this!)
