what do most people use for a spare if they have 18" alloys?? obviously the space saver is sized as a spare for standard 16" or is it ok to use as the tyres are smaller on the 18" so it ends up with the same diameter as the 16's???

apparently someone said they wont help if u dont have a serviceable spare on board?? not sure on that though.

I'm fooked if a get a flat, big tyres on the back, big brakes on the front, guess its the rac

No law stating you have to carry a spare ;) If you do though it must be in good working order and with the correct air pressure in it.

i not got a spare at the mo either, looks like id better join the rac. but they also cant tow me as once had the aa out and the position on the towing eye on the front is so far back , if the tried to use the a frame to tow it would have ripped me front bumper off !!

The space saver spare should not be a prob as with 18's you would probably have taken into account the aspect ratio of the new tyre (i.e. 265/35/18) so in theory the diameter and therefore circumference should work out roughly the same. The aspect ratio is however a % of the tyre width so it is not an exact science!!!

Law applys to roadwheels only though so spare not required or can be as flat or bald as you like as long as it is'nt on the car.

I would presume the RAC have the same rules as the AA. If you get a flat, and you dont carry a servicable spare..they wont cover you. Instead they send a local recovery truck which you have to pay yourself.
