Any skiers in the club?!

Just got back from a fab break in St Gervais, next valley over from Megeve.

Gave snow blades a go for the first time- they're bloody fantastic! Much more nippy than skis, and great for popping off-piste between the trees (not that I'm particularly good anyway...)

Gonna give boarding a go sometime, but I'm a bit apprehensive as everyone says you spend a lot of time falling over when you're learning, and I've got a dodgy shoulder.

Resort was good for skiing, but a bit naff for nightlife- everywhere shuts up at 10pm! Spent most of the evenings in the hotel bar or over the road at the nearest real bar getting beaten something chronic at table footie. :(

Blade are for Gays, I've snowboarded for 6yrs now work in france for two full seasons, you might land on your sholder alot when learning so get onw of those support straps, i would have lessons at MK or Tamworth before if your thinking of boarding, french are crap at teaching it

LOL Guess I can expect that from a boarder... :smash:

Yeah, I've got a set of blades and I love 'em. Must admit, I've always found them a bit out of their depth once you get off piste but on piste they really are fun.

Gave boarding a go last time I was away and was rubbish at it but I intend to try again!

Gutted I didn't get away this year. :( Too much car maintainence on the credit cards!! ;)

Know the feeling!

I'll probably get myself a pair of my own blades in the sales- easy enough to just bung in your bag.

Krsmayo- yeah the swooshing off-piste is *exactly* what makes me want to board. That and the fact that a bunch of my mates who were all die-hard skiers have all tried a week of boarding and now won't do anything else...

Just the shoulder thing that worries me- I'll just have to make sure I'm good! :D

well if you have skied then you know what edge etc to use on the snow, the only thing i found teaching people is lack of strenth in the legs, used different muscules. try getting up off the floor with your legs infront of you lol. when i worked in france by the end of the season most people were on boards, i've never skied so don't know the difference. all i know is that boarding doesn't **** your knees up like skis
