Manual or auto???? Sounds like the reverse switch need adjusting - if you move the gearstick does the light go back on or anything???

CheerZ,

Sorry, silly me it's a manual box (no comments please), no once it goes out after flickering it does'nt come back on, unless you put it into neutral then select reverse again. Any ideas on how to adjust the switch or where it is located??

cheers M8's

The switch is on gearbox which I have been told is only accessable when the box is dropped, don't know how true that is. It's possible for the cable/connector to get damaged when the gear box is replaced (like during clutch change)... Mine was re-soldered to cure the prob, Nissan would probably make you buy a new "something"

Jonny,

The reverse switch is a bitch to get to. I had the same problem and it did turn out to be the switch. A mechanic friend got it up on ramps and still couldn't change it. It's right up under the driveshaft right below the gearstick (from underneath if that makes sense). The actual problem he had was getting a spanner on the old swtich cos the driveshaft was in the way. Darren ended up changing mine when my engine was out.

It might be worth firing off a mail to him.
