Guys, thanks for all your help and advice on my other tread. There is one more thing I need to know, well, two really.

1 = Insurance. I'll be 25 when I get the car and need to be well covered. Do you know of any good insurers who don't charge the earth? I may or may not mention that it may well be an import.

2 = Are the cars the same? I mean are the UK and JDM cats the same size and things like that. In other words will bits from this country and the US fit a JDM.

Thanks again all.

Houghtons are great for limited mileage classic policies (see traders forum).

I'm with Bell Direct as I didn't qualify for Houghtons.

In think one person on here is going through SERIOUS grief as their insurance details weren't accurate.

Houghtons wont even quote him because he is 25.

Most parts are the same for the ZX whether UK, US or Jap.

THE SH1TS!

They wouldn't quote me either as I'm "a little bit wayyy, a little bit woohh" etc.

Try Bell Direct (http://www.belldirect.co.uk) - but haggle - don't take their first quote!

try central direct on 08707775565 i just got insured with them and im 25

If you don't mention this then the insurance company will "assume" it is a UK spec ZX. Come claim time you'll find you policy invalid because you supplied "fraudulent" information. Believe me ... they WILL look at it like that because you "witheld" information (whether on purpose or not).

Also, declare your modifications as failure to do so will invalidate your policy as well. Everything from chip, alloys, exhaust, body kit, etc. It doesn't have to affect your premium but most insurers will want to know about power modifications and body kits/alloys.

Do the right thing and be truthful ... it will be much better for you in the longrun. I paid in excess of £1300 when I first purchased my Zed (and it was bog standard Jap import). Now, with chip, induction and exhaust declared, and a lot of haggling I pay a little over £700 fully comp, NCB protected, etc. Through Houghten Insurance - which I understand won't insure "young" drivers - so do some phoning around. There are some good contact at the back of Jap Performance Magazine for instance.

Good luck and enjoy your Zed when you get it!

Got mine through A quote over the net, ended up with axa, houghtons couldnt compete because I do in excess of 12000 miles.

As above it ain worth omitting anything, if you hold back on info you'll get caught out if anything serious happens to or with your vehicle, these insurance guys know what to look for, its ok with a minor bump but the major ones where you need a full pay out always get an inspection, even a spoiler could make the car more attractive to a thief and invalidate you policy.

Houghtons wouldn't quote me as my car was chipped from 300bhp to 400bhp. Adrian flux could only do £1400 so looks like it's back with Osbourne and sons @ £1130.

Try NORWICH UNION. I'm 28 I've got my Jap spec :xxx: 1993 non turbo manual insured with them fully comp with my wife as other driver protected no claims and limited mileage of 5000miles for £303.00

I can't get any quotes online for one of these, and thats being 22 with 3 yeras no claims, but i'm sure someone will come the day it get one.

Sideways300 - do you have a TT model and could you PM me wot sort of insurence you pay so as i could get and idea, cheers

I had a fiddle on the elephant site regarding my situation after I leave uni

300ZX TT Manual valued at £3k, alloys, 22year old male driver, 2 years NCB, garaged in a medium sized town area, my mum added on the policy...£650 :o

I was shocked by that...so I would assume I wont be lucky enough to get it so cheap if the time were to come!
