What are the symtoms of a failing fuel pressure regulator?

Hi everybody,

I think that my fuel pressure regulator is going funny... What would cause one to fail? would it cause a drop off in performance if it was malfunctioning? what are the symptoms?

Thanks for your help,

Brian

The fuel pressure regulator maintains the pressure of the fuel supply to your injectors. usually with a pressure regulator there is a diaphragm which over time can deteriorate and allows fuel past it.The fuel pressure is reduced and therefore the car can be starved of fuel usually initally at higher revs

Symptoms misfiring to difficulty starting

dependent on how bad the regulator is.

Hope this is some help

Cheers

bad starting esp when hot and try looking for fuel leakage also. I don't think it is very expensive so if in doubt replace it.

Guess there also a possibility that the fuel filter is blocked. The symptoms could be similar.
