I got to buy a new battery :( . mines not holding it's charge. what do i need to look for when buying, any name's that i should be looking for. anyone used Varta batteries as the main place for these is just up the road in Shrewsbury.

My local factor did my battery with 3 yrs guarentee - £35

I had the same problem and when i bought a new battery for £40 it died on me 2 days later, consiquently found out that my alternator was worn and it wasnt charging properly.

Had it reconditioned and fitted for £200 :(

 

Go to kwik fit and let them do a free battery check and they will tell you if its a faulty battery or a faulty alternator

Alternators are a weakness on the ZX - once 60K miles have passed it's on borrowed time!!

good point that Chris but thats what my bro told me to do cause he worked in ATS and he told me to keep an eye on the device the mechanic had when he was testing it for figures, cause even I wouldnt trust them.

 

the mechanic pointed out that "car this big" needs a lot of charging power and it should show about 13 volts charging power on the test meter but mine was showing under 10 so he came under conclusion that it deffinetly was the alternator but i went to more than one place to confirm that and so should you ;)

 

and if you dont trust anyone then you can purchase one of those devices yourself from Halfords and such and test it your self after a bit of research on zx charging power...... ;)

oh and btw my alternator wasn't done at kwik fit LOL
