Wiring Driving Lights

Just been to Halfords and bought some 130W bulbs and a set of rectangular driving lamps to fit in the front skirt.

Has anyone wired a set in to come on with the main beam and if so how's it done? The lampos come with a harness and dash switch.

I've seen a write up to make the fogs come on like this so I'll probably do this too and make my Z look like a christmas tree!

Are the main/dipped/fogs all on separate fuses? Just wondered if uprating the bulbs will result in a meltdown when all on at once?

Yes it's easy you just run the line from the harness relay and switch to the main beam line on the Z.

Cheers mate, where is the easiest place to find the main beam wire then without removing the steering wheel surround?

LOL

you're having a larf mate biggrin.gif

if you just want to spur off the wire, then near the main beam lamp would be an easy place

Be aware Nissan use the earth leads for switching the main and dip beams not the live

LOL

It got your attention anyway!

Switching the earth wire is going to be a pain when the harness supplied with the lamps is set up to switch the positive...

Is nothing ever easy on a Z?

That probably explains why I had such a problem tracing a faulty front fog light a few months back if they work the same.

Surely though it doesn't make that much difference how you switch the relay. Pressumably the normal way to operate the relay is to have a permanent earth and then take the 12v from the main beam to turn it on? If this is the case, all you need to do with an earth switched system is to supply the relay with 12v instead of an earth and then apply the switched earth to complete the circuit????

Hope this makes some sense...

Andy
