Hey guys. My zx recently decided to take a very close look at the back of a PT Cruiser at 50mph (brake pedal went straight to the floor) and there is now some extensive damage to the front of the car.

Would it be better for me to try and repair it (not sure if chassis is bent yet) or to find a good lookin non-turbo with a knackered engine and get the conversion done. The engine I had in my car had only been in there a couple of months and still runs now but the rad is jammed against the fan so im just leaving it alone for now till i know what 2 do. Is it fust a straight engine bay swap or does the gearbox and clutch etc have to be done aswell.

Any help would be most appreciated and I know how good you guys are!!

Thanks

Sorry to hear that :(

Glad you're OK though.....

If you hit at 50mph I doubt the car would be the same again after repair TBH.

You should just take the insurance money and buy another ZX IMO - there are plenty of good ones for sale here at the mo. Try to buy the salvage back from the insurers and keep the best bits, break the rest of the car and sell the bits to make a bit more cash towards your new one.

Good luck mate

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

That is what i would really like to do but i am having trouble finding another like for like.

I need a jap manual TT and most of the ones for sale are either auto or non turbo. Also, if I did get another and it was standard would i be able to take the chipped ecu out of mine and put it in the new one?

Thanks

Some good advice there from Richard.

PS If you by mine I'll swap the ECU for you ;)

Get it on a jig first. Proper one like Blackhawk or whatever. Until you can find out whether or not the chassis is within spec or not or fixable, everything else is guesswork.
