Been looking on http://www.conceptzperformance.com and with the exchange rate the way it is at the mo looks like you can get some really good deals.

 

Question though...mate of mine bought something online from the US a month or so ago and got done on the import tax. Anyone knw how to avoid this or if you get it everytime, how it work?

Only way out of it is if you can get the seller to declare it as a gift and not put an invoice in, get him to mail that on its own. Or get them to state value of goods is £10, but not a good idea if it were to get broken in transit.

 

Be lucky to find any of the big places that will do that though.

even with tax it usually works out cheaper!

do you know what the tax % is mate? is it set or does it vary?

I have been in touch with conceptzperformance ystrday as I have ordered some stuff the guy whos handling my order said that they mark there international packages as gifts and give them a lower value they also mail your invoice seperate HTH

Ive also noticed that if they send via USPS I dont get clobbered with tax, if they use UPS I do, best bet is to try the gift approach, the import tax is a rip off.

;) You can also ask them to put on the contents list "warranty return" this has worked a couple of time for me in the past :D

I always try and support the traders on here by using you first as you all offer a top class service and we need you, you all also offer great bargains, and I personally think everyone on here should think the same but obviously people also want the lowest price all the time, I have only gone abroad for a few items that are not available here or for bits for me bike. I understand how you feel Chris. ;)

:confused: Chris, i get and i am getting most of my stuff thro you mate.:D and the other members in our traders section.

Was just giving advice on what i used to do for me other cars.

Well ive never bought stuff abroad which is why i started the thread in the 1st place to find out some info. I am happy to buy from traders on here otherwise i wouldnt have bothered subscribing to this forum, just i notice from looking on some of these sites that you can get the odd thing that UK traders dont always have.
