LOL Paul It is real strange how differant people have ideas on what a good film is,I can HONESTLY say hand on heart I have NEVER watched any Star Wars films.

When they are on the TV over Xmas etc I just change channel because they never have appealed to me

good film has stood the test of time

the documentary in the box set is ace, some of the scenes they deleted are truely appalling!! could have been a real stinker of a film...

But Episode 1 looked really good on the adverts and was terrible.

Episode 2 looked like it was going to be better and ended up worse.

That lad who played Aniken who is now playing Darth Vader just does not have to right look. The parts I have seen, Darth Vader looks like a skinny short bloke in a very padded costume.

Least the advert for 3 shows stuff actually happening in space, with space battles.

I liked when then put a old WWII dog fight film side by side to a parts of the film and they where exactly the same. They just copied the movments of the planes with ships.

did you notice the change to the end of Return of the Jedi?

Yes. If felt very, very wrong to me (who saw all three films at the cinema the first time around).

I can HONESTLY say hand on heart I have NEVER watched any Star Wars films.

You liar, Ive seen you in the bar scene! :ttiwwop:

Cant be arsed to find any though

Fair play if you see a film and don't like it, but I don't quite understand why you'd actively avoid watching the Star Wars films  It's difficult to interpret from just text in a post but it seems you're almost proud of the fact you haven't seen them! ;)

Like it or not they're a major western cultural reference point and their influence can be seen in a multitude of other forms outside of the genre. To not have seen them is to ostracise yourself from this. Go on Ian, give 'em a go, even if it's just to say you've done it and won't be doing it again...you might just like 'em! :)

Leigh.

Anakin's "Force" ghost is no longer the original actor but replaced with Hayden Christensen!

Use the force young mac

Sweet Jesus...I've just read my post again and I sound a little too like The Simpsons Comic Book Guy for my liking...pass the shotgun someone! :slap: ;)

Proud not to have seen them? not at all LOL!

I have no interest in those kind of films, but when you are into films like this you will find it hard to understand how and why people don't want to see them LOL.

Here is an eg................

Sound of Music, meant to be a classic but not my kind of thing therefore I have never seen it.

John Wayne Westerns again big classics but not my idea of entertainment.

Films are like taste in music, what some people think is a fantastic album, other people will think what a complete pile of junk LOL;)

Once upon a time in america, nows there a great film.

Totally agree with you mate, but I try to see or listen to stuff I might not usually go for just to expand my cultural experience. I may end up hating it, but at least I'll know what people are going on about...and there's always that chance that despite my preconceptions I might be suprised and discover I actually like it. Which is nice ;) :)

As far as the Star Wars films are concerned, hell yes I like 'em (bar the abysmal Episode I and barely tolerable Episode II), but I definately don't consider myself a big fan of the series or Sci-Fi films in general. I like stuff that's a bit more unpredictable, for example Fight Club, Donnie Darko or anything by David Lynch! :D :D

Anyway, twas just my tuppeny's worth before I go out to see Ocean's Twelve which I've been told by TonyC is terrible...but want to see for myself ;)

Leigh.

:D IV, V and VI rock........ but then im biase.....:D:D

Mac......Go on you know you want too......:D

Star Wars 4,5,6 and 1,2,3 are nothing more than top class space opera. Which is terrific if you like that sort of thing (and I do). I saw it (with my other half) in Guildford with the aid of a Brett's Burger and a spliff... or several.

Mac - just sit down with a beer, unhitch your critical faculties and watch - treat Star Wars as a Saturday morning matinee. Enjoy!

Once upon a time in america, nows there a great film.

And they showed scenes of celebration, including cities from the "new" films.

And they got rid of the Ewok celebration music/dance number at the very end.
