I was changing my wheels and noticed the rubber gaitor round one of the rear shocks had split.

Is it worth replacing or is it more trouble than it's worth and I shouldn't bother?

Cheers

Totally up to you mate-I don't recall it being an mot fail-only if the shocks leaking etc. They are there for a reason though!! ;)

A similar thing hapened on my 200SX and I got them replaced.

Then a year later I had to get the shocks replaced anyway. And the aftermarket ones didn't have gaitors so I wondered if they weren't really worth bothering with.

I guess like you say, they are there for a reason!

if you do, don't bother replacing them with Nissan ones - use universal steering gaitors - much cheaper :)
