I own a UK spec 300ZXTT UK spec 1993. Unfortunately, i went through some flood water in the dark and sucked up into engine. SQUASH! One broken engine. Fortunately my car insurance covered the replacing of the engine & turbos. But, only with Nissan parts at Bob Juliers Nissan Dealership. Car has only done about 6,000 miles since. I am looking at increasing the power of my 300ZX. i currently have a Scarab exhaust (Z Centre) Plus a Stillen Air filter (which does not fit very well).

 

I have spoken to a company called Hyper SR (http://www.hypersr.com)

 

They recommended the following mods:

 

HKS front mounted intercooler

De-cat pipes

Iridium plugs

HKS EVC-5 Boost Controller

HKS fuel cut defencer

HKS super power flow air filter

HKS super SQV dump valve

 

Has anyone used these guys before?

Were they any good?

Is what they have recommended correct?

Is there anyone else you would recommend to do the work instead?

 

Any help i would appreciate.

Hi Kev,

 

Been around here for a while and can't recall hearing anything about that company. All I would say is there are plenty of mechanics/garages who say thay can work on 300's but only a few who know what they were doing.

Depending what you want to spend mate there are lots of options and here is the place to find em' ;)

Kev there not by any chance a HKS Dealer :D To be honest it really depends on what power increase your looking for , a very good and reliable increase can be obtained with a simple chip and a boost controller or jets, you already have an intake and an exhaust so this would be the next logical step , Front mounted intercoolers are not required at this stage although its never a bad idea to upgrade the stock intercoolers with some larger units that fit in the stock location

lol - I think Ryan's right - they like their HKS parts dont they - even though we all know who makes the best intakes :rolleyes: :p

dump valves wont increase performance as such, and like MantaV8 said: NO CHIP???!?!??!

Is there anywhere you could recommend for boosting power.

Years ago there was Silvia engineering. But, i heard they are well exspensive. I want a proper job. But don't like donating to charities as well, for the same job.

They recommended the following mods:

 

HKS front mounted intercooler- NO uprated side mounts soon is more than good enough

De-cat pipes- if you don't have de-catts, yes you will gain

Iridium plugs- No, NGK work really well

HKS EVC-5 Boost Controller- Go with Greddy profec or AVC-r

HKS fuel cut defencer- Erm NO !

HKS super power flow air filter- Well it's better than what you got, BUT Apexi is better

HKS super SQV dump valve- Only if you want the whoosh noise, yer car has valves already
