1 or 2 A'Pexi filters best???

Runnin std tubs on 15psi with jwt chip and huge exhausts.....

Whats best/gives more performance...Honestly...Does it make a difference.

Will an extra filter be wasted or will it increase BHP???

Bearing in mind im gettin JWT tubs as soon as these std's blow.

if you're going to be upgrading your turbo's then i guess you may aswell go for 2 now to save upgrading again later, on stock tubs i doubt theres any real benefit from twin filters though

2 Greddys nuff said ;)

If you are going for the 530's or greddys fine, anything below that standard and you might as well keep to stock

i asked this b4 and the answer is the following : Dual POP Charger is Only Useful if the TT engine is producing 450 or more HP. ( rwhp !!)

The kit consists of TWO POP chargers installed side by side where the air intake was. The MAS will be relocated on one of the side, while the other will only have a tube.

(If the car already has a POP charger, only the required parts will be needed)

Because the MAS will only see HALF of the air going to the engine, the ECU will have to get a new EPROM programmed to handle the change.

The low speed driveability may suffer, and the JWT "low speed driveability update" should be installed (comes free with the DUAL POP charger). Installation of the "low speed driveability update" will required to cut some vacuum lines, drill a hole in the right stock surge valve, and route a hose to it.

So to be honest mate not worth it as yet. plus wuite expensive. Il have high flow garett turbos , greddy intercoolers , 555 injectors , will be able to run boost up to 19-20 psi ect and still have no need for a dual pop yet !!

Who told you that :smash:

well the turbos are high flow t25's so wont be over 450 rwhp yet mate so no need yet ay !

People have run dual pops with hybrid 25's and had very good results, i'm telling you know you will see a massive difference if tuned proper with a dual pop on your setup as long as the tubs can push enouh air.

well what can i say,

i had the se-nissan maxiflow kit twin pop which uses 2 huge airfilters in a bull horn configuration!!, changed the shitty paper filters from se-nissan with k&n filters awsome!! now then !! i have been told that if the engine is breathing too heavy it can draw oil in from your breathers im not sure if this is true but i am having oil come into my plennum from somewhere, new pcv valves and hoses fitted a couple of months ago so im not sure what to say!!

i will try to downgrade to 1 filter to see if there is any diffrence!! :headvswal

Two filters covered in oil will not give you oil in your plenum, the filters that are covered in oil can give you trouble with your afm as they cover the hotwire.

There will be a little bit of oil in your plenum anyway as long as it is not excessive then there is nothing to worry about, it is part of the breather system!

I also have grotty paper filters on mine and want to change them. What K&N part number did you get ? I did a bit of research and couldn't work out which one would be the best fit.

andy the filters you need are K&N RU 2820

i have added a pic for you of the old ones and the new ones!!

topless how r ya, the oil i was telling you about was not oil from the fillters but engine oil working its way to the plennum, i seem to be gettin blue smoke on overrun and when i opened the plenum oil was in there, now you say that some oil is meant to be in there but im not sure how much, just to give you an idea i burnt bout 2 1/2 liters of oil from overrun, is it still likley to be valve stem oil seals, or is this oil in the plennum a giveaway??

what do you think!!

I am good mate thanks!

Somebody correct me on this, but if you rub your fingers in the throttle bodies/boost pipes there should be enough oil to make them dirty!

yep you would be right in saying that, how can i temporarilly disconnect my breathers to eliminate my valve stem seal problem, but if it then still smokes on overrun it is then deffo the seals i think?? :nelson:

Just what I was looking for - thanks. I seem to remember my concern at the time being that the filters were rated for less power than the engine produced, and if you had two filters you only multiplied it by 1.5 or something like that, still leaving me short of the massive (sic) 370bhp, or whatever it is that I should have.

And if it smokes on the overrun, then yes, it's quite likely that the valve seals are wearing, but it could be other stuff too.

Cheers

Andy

hi andy

hope this helps!!

FORMULA FOR SIZING MULTIPLE FILTERS

If fitting more than one filter use the following formula -

x2 = BHP x 1.6

x3 = BHP x 1.85

x4 = BHP x 2.2

Example using round straight clamp-on filter RU-0600:

RU-0600 x 1 = 125 BHP

RU-0600 x 2 = 200 BHP

RU-0600 x 3 = 230 BHP

RU-0600 x 4 = 275 BHP

NOTES ON TURBOCHARGERS AND SUPERCHARGERS

Because Turbo's and Superchargers do not rely on atmospheric pressure but rather forced induction, lower rated filters can be used.

As a rough guide you can normally increase the quoted BHP figure by 80% (more as boost pressures increase).

So the RU-0600 in the example above will easily cope with a BHP of 225 in a vehicle with a turbo.

ok then with all this in mind the ru-2820 is rated at 260 hp, multiply by 1.6 cos there is two of them we have

2 x filters = 416 bhp,

now then cos it is turbocharged it is 80% more efficient again so we have a grand total of

416 bhp add 80% = 748.8 bhp thats a lot, see what i mean bout being over efficient, when in theory only one of the above filters would suffice,

260 bhp add 80% = 468 bhp!!

what do you reckon!!

hope my maths are right lol!!!
