Setup for A'PEXi filter...air/fuel controller ???

Apparently you have to reset the ECU when fitting the A'PEXi filter and some say get a air/fuel controller.

To reset the ECU i understand that you just Disconnect the battery and reconnect.

Is this correct?

Also...Will i need a air/fuel controller as im runnin a JWT chip with 15Psi and Big shiny exhaust

If so where do I get one from and how much are they to buy and fit

Any comments welcome...Especially if there derogitory

You shouldn't have to re-set ECU for just a filter change, but how are you running 15psi....? hope not on standard Tubs ? cos if you are thay aint going to last long bud..:(

if you have a JWT chip in, then the ECU should have already been set up for you, if not, then you need to look into getting the chip re-done or have you ECU re-maped.

Hope this helps :D if not some one will be along shortly....:D

Yup...runnin 15psi on std tubs :x: into the DarkSide of turbo limits...I know they aint gonna last too long but will give me a good reason to get JWT tubs as soon as they blow.

The JWT chip was fitted at Z-Tech and put on conzult but dunno if it was redone?

I will have to PM Baggins and see if he did or not.

I always recommend clients to reset the ECU after fitting an induction kit for two reasons:

(1) it clears the error codes

(2) it clears the "self-learn" parameters

Reason (2) in particular is important. The ECU will set certain parameter (such as alpha readings) for each bank of the engine. These are constantly adjusted depending on your driving style, weather condition, road conditions, etc. After you've put an induction kit on there will be an increase in air intake which will conflict with the already "learned" settings. If you reset the ECU it will start with a clean slate and you'll get the best performance.

Resetting the ECU can be done by leaving the battery disconnected for about an hour or so (any less won't guarantee a complete reset). I would however recommend you get Ryan to reset the ECU and the ECU is starting with a clean slate.clear the self-learn settings using his ConZult - that way you are guaranteed. I'm asuming he's not too far away from you.

One suggestion, if I may, is that you turn the boost down to a more reasonable level - ie, 12~13psi. Ryan will be able to show you this on his ConZult but the stock injectors max out at 15psi and then become exponentially more inefficient after that. At 15psi and beyond, using stock injectors and an off-the-shelf perfomance chip, the engine will start running increasingly lean and I don't need to draw a picture of what that can do to your engine. Stock turbo's should be able to cope with 15psi - its the injectors which are the restricting factor. And not even an air/fuel meter is going to help you at that stage.

can only assume you got boost jets with your JWT setup?

as far as air/fuel controllers are concerned, you dont need one at your current state of modifications. i have an Apexi Super-AFC2 installed, but the guys at THOR (who installed it) barely changed the settings on it as my car isnt exactly heavily modded and the A:F ratio was pretty good before the apexi was installed anyway.

Yup booster jets....gonna put better tubs n injectors on soon :hyper: so will i need one then?

mmmm possibly not but the experts will know better. depends HOW big!!! if its just the next step up turbo-wise and 555's then you still shouldnt need one.
