There seems to be a lot of rumour that this thing was carrying 2 bricks of fluent Arab speaking SAS to infiltrate the insurgents in the Suni triangle. If so and it was shot down. How are are these so called "fudimental Rag Heads" getting this kind of intel and why carn't we cut of their supply of intel and amo.

Rumors spread very quickly about these things, but I reckon if it was SAS then we will find out the full story in about 30 years and not before.

Nasty business out there at the moment, don't know how our guys put up with the constant bombings & pot shots etc so well without resorting to the american 'shoot anyone without a hamburger' policy.

I can say No to this thought.....;) you wouldn't have that many SAS on 1 plane at 1 time.......;)

But all the same was a shame for it to Crash/taken down.....thoughts to the family's.

Thats only 8 SAS and I know that they often fly out on opps in 2 groups of 4 which correct me if I'm wrong is 2 bricks.

Yep not that many would travel 2gether and if sas were gona infil they would have been there long ago

the brick thing goes back to the NI days normal a platoon spilt up an called bricks. depend what op there on sas normally work in a 4 man patrol

We know the SAS have been there for years, but things are getting hotter in the Suni areas and the PM is getting a lot of presure from Bush to help cool the heat off for the Yanks.

OK i'm an old git and still talk the lingo of my time. ie a patrol of 4 special forces was known as a brick. + if they no longer fly into ops situations in 2 "patrols" ( not that this was/is a fixed concept just that it did used to happen dependant on the mission objectives, or that they were to opperate from a new HQ) then that is a recent (as in last 10 years) change to things.

Still strange don't ya think + the first confirmed Dead is an Australian.

Mark, please take it from me a brick in your way of thinking is a five man team...depending on the Op;) and no we wouldn't go in as a 2 team brick on the same Plane. Also wouldn't go up country in a C130.

So to change the subject slightly the Ausie was a member of the load master crew, and the others were the rest of the C130 RAF crew :(:(
