2 weeks ago while on a call out at 7am in Glasgow quite close to the City Centre, a First Glasgow Scania being driven by a brainless steering wheel attendant ran into the back of the lorry I was trying to start (it was broken down in the bus lane) at about 25 mph while I was standing at the front drivers side with the cab up turning the key.

WTF he aint gonna stop......he did after a short skid and BANG........but he was so lucky as if he hit the lorry straight on he was a gonner, just lucky I guess it was early on a sunday morning without much traffic about and at least no one was hurt, even the passengers, they just got off the bus and went to the nearby stop and got on the next bus.

Hope the pictures I have posted show how lucky everyone was...but the aim of this post is if anyone breaks down at the roadside...........................................................................................

BE FECKIN CAREFUL AT ALL TIMES as there is danger everywhere at the roadside.

Hi John,

I can tell you what was said !!!

If the breakdown had been moved out of the way, as it should have been, he wouldnt have hit it !

Only reason I know, is because I will be repairing the same bus tomorrow morning !!!!!!!! ;)

Honestly mate, Its on the jig tomorrow, and the driver was adamant it wasnt really his fault ??? :xxx:

As you know, I also do call outs, and I always get that kinda "oh no" feeling when its on the motorway, but you dont expect it in a bus lane !!!

As long as you are ok, thats the main thing !! ;)

Cheers Alan...everyone ok apart from a few pairs of underpants owned by me and the lorry driver who was on the pavement at the time of the bump.

I think most if not all broken down vehicles should be recovered from the roadside but thats another story as probably most can be repaired within a short time.

Alan the driver was a complete dick....he blew up another Scania the same night......no warning lights, no noise.....just BANG....so i have been told he done 40 grands worth of damage that night with the crash and blowing the engine.
