Just got a nasty surprise while attempting to change a headlamp bulb on my UK Zed. The previous owner has used some odd bulbs and spliced a double spade connector into the loom to connect to them.

The bulbs have the sam two notches as the standard halfords type 453 that I was expecting but also have two spade connectors. They also have the marking X1JR on them.

Anyone have any ideas what they are and where I can get replacements since halfords are no use for these

sounds like someones put j spec bulbs in, if so theyre H3C bulbs, but beware they are poo as theyre 35 watt and cost upwards of a tenner each.

Looked further and they appear to be the Jap OEM bulbs. Now I'm reaaly perplexed as to why anyone would go to the trouble of splicing the loom fit these.

Zed Centre have them for £17 each plus VAT and delivery. Ouch. Anyone know where I can get them cheaper?

I'd convert it back to UK spec and use the proper bulbs.

Can't be that difficult

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I have a jap import with those twin spade connectors on.

Halfords make were not the right base shape to fit.

I think you need the ones with the "H" cut out on them...Below is the original bulb:-

They cost £6.99 for a set of 2 inc del.

Input power is 55W.

Output power is 110W/100W

Try this link to a forum thread for links to the conversion:-
