T-top strips

Has anyone found an easy way of repainted/recovering the strips along the t-tops. My look really bad now and let me car down totally!

Cheers,

Andy

Somebody mentioned this on here recently, Simon H maybe...not 100 percent sure.

Mine need doing aswell, I wanna replace all the rubber trimming after the winter...it looks awful mad.gif

I think someone did it with strips of sticky plastic. One of the Tim's, probably the one who lives in Bournmouth and has something to do with a graphics company ....

I was pretty close though - you did post on that thread saying you had miles of black sticky stuff !!

Anyway, my memory's not what it used to be and who the hell are you anyway ?!?

Wibble

i got mine resprayed in a satin black, sprayer did all the window trim - looks much better...

I have a 100% answer to this problem and have used it on my present and past cars,also I think Matty and Danny have no done the same.

Clean the srips and this can include the window sill rubbers and the front and rear windscreen surrounds, ans now cover with good quality matt black electrical tape (best not done on a cold day) stretch it slightly to get a snug fir and trim with a sharp knife.

The results are instant and very durable, if whilst doing it you go wrong pullit off and re-do it. an 80 pence reel will do the whole car about 10 times so do not worry about getting it right first time.The width of standard tape is about right and survives washing ok.It is possible to do all the rubbers and neatly done looks like new strips have been fitted,Matty / Danny your verdicts for these doubters please.(LOL) Jeff TT

Yup Jeff, top tip the electrical tape!

Done mine about 2 months ago now, still very much attached and looking peachy, no peeling and the Z has been through the car wash/Jet wash about 6/7 times since I did it.

Oh and it looks a million times better than the old faded strips on the Z.

So the plus points;

1. Cheap

2. Looks good

3. You can't tell (unless you tell them!)

4. It lasts

5. Can get the tape from anywhere!

6. Easy, peezy, lemon squeezy to do!

The negative points;

1. It's permanent, but hey! what is? biggrin.gif

2. I can't think of anything else

3. Am just filling up the numbers

4. I love you guys biggrin.gif

5. I can't wait for Christmas

6. Shall I stop?

7. I think so

A simple, cost effective way of enhancing the appearance of your Zed! Would suggest Jeff's method any day. Have done mine months ago and still looks excellent!
