what to mod... (the n00b question!)

Hi all,

 

I've got me a jap zxtt and am looking to increase it's power.

 

As far as I can tell, its got a aftermarket cat-back exhaust (no idea on make) and a blitz induction kit.

It also has a set of HKS dump valves (are they standard? :slap: ) and a HKS turbo timer.

 

No idea on chip (how can I tell?)

 

What's the next best thing to purchase? (I'm assuming chip) and if you could give some help on which one to purchase, that'd be luvly.

Dump valves are not standard. Recirculating valves are.

 

The only way to see what chip, if any, you have is to open up the ECU.

Chipping the 300ZX alone doesnt increase the power that much. But what is does do, is change the mapping so that the turbo pressure can be increased safely.

 

Next step for you is to chip the ECU and then increase the boost with either a boost controller or boost jets. However a standard clutch will not last long with that much power increase

I already got that upping the boost without the chip is a no-no, so chip it is then..

 

What's the most popular / decent chip to go for, and is it a case of daughterboard / piggyback or fullout replacement?

Unsolder the old chip, solder in a socket and then push in the new chip.
