I'm not sure what is wrong with my Zed but i had a feeling it might of been the turbo, seal or something.

On the M4 at the weekend and thought i ran over something small which i thought could of come from under the car. after that the exhaust sounded quieter, then 30 mins later going round the roundabout at victoria (london) and heard a few exhaust noises and popping. sounded quite nice but then i noticed the exceleration had deteriated, still had a lot of pull but didnt get the normal kick when you floor it. Also at high speeds when you floor it it doesnt pick up as quick. Sounds like its trying to though. I'm not sure what to think so what do you recon guys and girls???

Do i need to prostitue myself yet????? :(

Any advice would be great.

dont sound good

vaccuum pipe popped off? happened in my old one, bubbling sound from exhaust, struggling to accelarate, car vibrates on tickover

Only use Optimax, i did put £10 of Super unleaded in it when it was running low on fuel. I thought it could be a pipe come loose etc. I'm no mechanic so am only quessing.

No smoke though. Plus it still goes well, just not as well as it should.

Where is this Vacuum pipe? I get the same thing but I thought it was normal... :smash:

Shows how much I know lol, the exhausts seem to rattle, same as yours.

I know it was definately quicker before, but never really bothered to look at fixing anything as I thought it was just normal noise...

On mine a similar thing happened, cause? My rear boxes had collapsed inside blocking the tail pipes. Simialr to what has been said re cats...

kay there are lots of vaccum pipes in there, the one that came off on mine attached to the front of one of the throttle bodies, just under the hard pipe

Man, I have SO much to learn... :(

I really need to get someone like Baggins to look at it, maybe someone can take it for a spin on Feb 13th and see what they think? I may have just got used to the power... happens I 'spose...

possibly, if it aint running right, you DEFINATLY know it aint running right

I know sweet F.A. about cars too. Will have to check the hard pipes and vacume hoses to see if any are loose. Keep fingers crossed that i find one and that solves it.

Hi mate,

My guess would be vacuum pipes or something has come ajar and disconnected itself. You could be going into safety boost, also, hence less pull.

I replaced all vacuum pipes with them red silicone jobbies from smithy, i would check they are all still on. Work your way around the plenum trying to find any that are loose or have come off, and any thing on the engine that looks like it should have a hose connected.

Also rev it a little on tick over and listen under the bonnet for odd airey noises or leaks.

If no smoke and running smooth otherwise, I wouldn't say it was a tubby at all. The lack of power I would say would seem to be boost related mate. Check the boost guage when your flooring it, it should be between 15-16psi.

The optimax thing is a good point, I put normal unleaded in it once, and had detting when flooring it, then safety boost, which meant low power, just didnt want to pull at all really at speed, felt like it wanted to go but just couldnt. Safety boost is around 7psi, and cuts in when the ecu detects a prob. If you've got a leak on one side of the engine, and ones running more psi than the other, i've no doubt it will go into safety boost and run a little odd.

One things for sure mate, I wouldnt be tempted to rag it too much until you check all the hoses as thats my bet of what it is.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

Was going to call you. Since this post I went to the Cheltenham cruise and after a few donuts had a bit of flamage from the right side of the engine above the turbo. Basically there was loads of oil sprayed from somewhere which caught fire on the turbo. Tatooman had a look and said it could of been caused by one of the oil feed pipes. (please dont cry)

I was able to drive the car home but kept it below 3k and didn't engage the turbos just incase.

Any suggestions??

Holy shit!!!!

I guess one of the pipes could have come off have you checked? TBH matey I recon its best to get it to Ryan, and get him to give it the once over and let you know what it is / needs doing.

Defo related to something popping / hiting something when you were driving :(

That really isnt good

Doubt it was the tubby itself as you had no screaming / smoke from zorsts etc, must have been something popped off under the engine bay and is causing damage mate. I would say if anything like that happens mate, you need to check it out properly before going out and raggin it not a good idea :( for the sake of a hose or something that costs a few quid, you will **** the car and it will cost you.

If you cant check it out yourself mate, get someone who knows whats going on to look over it before you go out and play again, you may have had a lucky escape if you get it sorted now, but the last thing you want to do is go a rag it again with something wrong.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Spoken to Ryan over the weekend and booking it in end feb. I've not driven it since it happend. sorry mate....
