Difference between normal TD06/TD05's and Greddy kits?

There is a place in the UK that sell these turbos at the following prices:

TD06 FROM £200

TD05 FROM £200

I understand that the internals will be very different to the Greddy kits and you dont get a greddy stainless manifold.

How different would the internals be of these £200 turbos compared to the Greddy Kits?

The reason I ask is that could a Hybrid turbo builder convert these normal TD's to perform as the Greddy kits do?

Companies like Turbo Technics say they can build hybrid turbos to any spec e.g. Nimonic wastegate spindle, cut-back blades, 360° small pad thrust bearing etc... so using the air ratio and flow specs of the greddy kits could this be done? Any one ever had hybrids built by Turbo Technics?

Hey warren you rabied south african.. ;-) TD06's don't need cutting of the suspension AFAIK we are the only ones outside of Japan with TD06-20G's in a Z and RUNNING. Have a look at my site 600plus.com click on rides, then mcgregor/tipler/hick which will show you pics of the TD06 units.

I can tell you they AIN'T a bolt on affair though. They are HUGE. I don't believe you can turn a TD05 into a turbo that will perform the same as a TD06-20G. It is HUGE.. the compressor inlet is just ginormous.. so big we can't fit air intakes onto ours.

I thought the TD05/TD06 were Mitsubishi turbos!

oh man you can see i just woke up sorry trey

ok let me start again.

everything kiwi says is correct lol biggrin.gif

I was under the impression you had to cut a section out of suspension and then reweld it :??? dont ask me where i got that info.

But surly you only need td05 for normal street application.

Tdo6 must cause huge lag.

they are mitsu units (still don't know what Warren is on today!). The difference between the Greddy and Mitsi ones is good luck being able to buy the same components that Mitsi supply to Greddy. Just like HKS and Garett - Garett manufacture a special run of turbo parts just for HKS and they are NOT allowed to sell the parts direct from Garett.

Trust me we tried getting the same parts of a Greddy TD06-20G but it took a lot of digging and we still don't think we were going to be sold the same parts, they were close to but not the same. Would they have worked ? yeah probably would've. Still have to buy all the other bits and pieces though.. thats where the value of the Greddy TD05 kit comes in as theres a lot of custom fabrication to fit those suckers if you were doing it all yourself. I don't think you'd come out on top - unless you have some good friends and a lot of skill.

By the way 06ers are just 0TT. TD06ers are waaaaaayyy too much in a street legal car.

what do td06 turbos run? price wise

if you're asking you can't afford to fit them.

Trust me for anything other than an out and out racecar they are not the go.
