Lumpy Idle (or am I paranoid !)

Well the honymoon is over, I'm starting to feel nervous about my car. Driving it last night I could hear the fan belt slipping, just wet I tought, but when I stopped I noticed the Idle wasn't as smooth as it used to be. Would a slipping fan-belt, or another belt, cause this problem or am I just being paranoid ?

Mine is doing it aswell, fan belt I mean, idle is spot on.

Try cleaning out both of them throttle bodes matey, first thing to do! Cures most problems with idle straight away.

Tooth brush and carb cleaner for you I suggest wink.gif

I can feel a trip to TT.NET coming on !

How far down the Throttle Bodies do you clean ?

Herman

Only about 2-3 inches. Specifically around the butterflies and I do the backs of the butterfiles too.

CheerZ, any recommendations as to the best cleaner to use ? which is available in the UK ?

Just have a look in Halfords or somewhere similar. Mine was Wynns I think and it worked fine. It's just a very volatile solvent. I'm sure Jeff has a fave place for buying it trade in bulk though wink.gif

Just hold the straw at the nozzle (I hope you know what I mean...)in place!

Many spray-cans come with an extension-straw which has the ability to fly off at the most unexpected moment...

I heard of people shooting it in into the plenum...

BTW Warm up the intake hoses before taking them off.

Much easier this way.

Good luck!
