I heard a rumour that there was some weights in the tailgate to counter balance the wiper motor or something? Has anyone removed these? If so where are they mounted (obviously behind the plastic trims). Does anyone also have any pics of these?

Remove the large middle plastic trim from the tailgate, held in place by three screws. The trim then slides back slightly towards the car and hey presto !!

One heavy lump of steel, held in place by two 6mm bolts.

Simply removeit, re-fit plastic trim and it makes a difference to the weight of the tailgate going up !!
