When did ECU change from 8 to 16 bit?

Featured Replies

I think this is around '95, but not at all certain. Not much information around about the later models, probably becasue they were not made available to this country.

The Manual ECU is a 8 bits

The AUTO ECU is a 16 bits

I think it's valid for all years (but I can be wrong...)

Sure that can't be right because the auto chip can be used in a manual but not vice versa. Also, I have a 1992 auto and it has an 8 bit ECU.

I know the 16 bit ECU has a daughterboard for the EPROM and was used in later Z's but not sure when from.
