Hi,

I'm a new 300zxtt owner (bought it on thursday) and I've got an odd problem with the steering.

The car feels fine (most of the time) when cornering in either direction, but when driving straight, or turning very slightly it is very hard to keep the car going in the same direction.

When going straight, the wheel tries to force itself either to the left or to the right.

When turning slightly, it is easy to turn the car into the turn, but it is very "heavy" when turning back to straight.

The car has been lowered (far too low in my oppinion) on Koni adjustables and is running on 18's (235 wide).

Im guessing this is due to camber angles?

I've read some info on this site about it needing to be changed, but I've not been able to get a clear understanding of what needs to be done.

Please can you help me identify the problem and point me in the direction of what I need to do to fix it?

Ta,

Sk93

Welcome :D

If the car is lowered, and lowered heavily then it will almost certainly need Camber adjustment. The Standard Link arms are fixed and have no adjustment, so there are two options.

1. Buy a set of adjustable link arms. Get them fitted and have the camber and alignment setup by a Garage, preferably with a laser alignment setup.

2. As Above, but purchase a Harve's Camber Kit, which consists of spacers that you can add to the mountings of the standard link arms, to alter the camber.

thanks.

I'm interested in lowering the car a little, but not slamming it as far as it currently is, is there a "preferred" ride height where the adjustable camber arms aren't required?

(just spent £500 on a clutch this week so another £500 is a lil expensive this month =0P)

thanks.

What you'll find is, if your thinking of keeping your Zed youll need a job that can fund an average of about £500 per week :D

normally its fine :)

but paying out for the car as well has kinda limited the fund barrel this week :P

A lot of owners are running Eibach Springs. They offer a 0.8" drop (the zed does'nt exactly ride very high in the first place) which would have a lot less affect on the camber angles.

Yes - the standard ride height! And even then, as the car gets older and the everything sags, the suspension succumbs to gravity and even the standard setup needs camber correction (or, preferably, new springs) to put everything back where it should be.

All this because there is no adjustment for camber built in to the front OEM suspension.
