Woohoo.. on the home stretch now.. few technical Q's..

Finally got the upper inlet manifold off today.. Yaaaaay! Much swearing and cursing, and slicing of fingers trying to get down to all the little rubber hoses mind you!

Why, oh why, do car manufacturers insist on using those bl00dy spring clips as hose clips? Jubilee clips or petrol clamp ones would have been much.. much.. MUCH easier to get off!

Shame I can't really see any split hoses frown.gif Guess I'm just gonna have to replace them all and hope for the best..

Oh and retrieve the 10mm spanner & throttle body bolt that disappeared down the left side of the engine.... frown.gif

Now to order all the hose I need.. anyone know what dia the small coolant hoses are? Are they 8mm?

Also what are peoples thoughts on bypassing the TB coolant lines in the UK? I'm wondering if the air passing the TB's will make them so cold I'll get TB icing..

CheerZ..

hey az howcome ur never on MSN any more? U blocked me or r u just never online?

BTW i dont know the answers to ur questions but im intrigued by wtf TB icing is???

MSN is bloody rubbish and I've given up on it.

TB icing is throttle body icing. usually happens in carbs when the petrol vapour expands quickly as it comes out of the jets.

Thought about this when he wrote it and I still don't think that would happen in the throttle bodies.

Don't spend time on MSN like I used to.. Too much other stuff to do it seems..

And I was thinking about water vapour in the inlet air (cold foggy days) condensing on the cold throttle bodies (from the windchill)..

If it aint a problem.. then i'll bypass those coolant lines - the fewer the better!

I suspect they're more use for cold starts than anything else. But it could be one of those features that are more appropriate to running in Alaska than Slough !

Yeah.. OK think that decides it, they're for bypassing! wink.gif After all, the less rubber pipework the better!
