Well today I had to have my 11 1/2 year old German Sheperd put to sleep, to say I'm devastated is an understatement!!! She's had loads of problems over the years with vets saying she shouldn't have been able to walk when she reached 6/7.

I got up this morning to find her not having any energy at all and then she basically had a stroke in my arms. I rushed her to the vets who done a scan which revealed she had a tumour on her spleen which had ruptured, filling her stomach with blood. This inturned caused the stroke. I had a very tough decision to make which was to let them operate (less than a 10% chance) or to let her go. I know I've done the best thing by her cos of her age etc, but I'm gutted, she was my little angel :(

Thanks for listening,

Vijay

Thanks again everyone, I really do appreciate what's been said :)

DJTomo, thanks for that mate. I hope your right and one day I can see her happy little beautiful face once again.

Mike, I saw that interview with Julian Clary and always remember that too. It's cruel to love something you can have for only such a short period of time.

Sorry for your loss mate,

At least she had a good life with an owner who obviously cared for her a great deal.

Sorry to hear that bud. From the photo, she looked like a real softy :(

she was a real softy, fantastic with children and a real little lady :)

Gutted for you!

It was the worst day of my life to have my rough collie put to sleep, I know what you are going through and can say it will get better mate!

Vijay,

I've only just read this, I'm really sorry for you mate. I'm sure words can't really express how you feel at the moment. As has already been said, think of all the good times together.

Take care mate.

I'm sorry to hear that mate, I know how hard it is. Our dog got run over by a car & I was gutted because we never saw him again, he ended up being carted away by the dustbin men :(

Thanks guys. I saw her for the last time today. I picked her up from the vets and brought her home for a short while and cleaned her up, then took her to the crematorium. She should be back home on Wednesday :)

I've really appreciated everyones words.

Only just caught this, pets deffo are like family members. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry about the very hard decision you had to make!

You did the only thing you could have done.

Still tough on you.

Arthur

I understand how you feel. We used to have Great Danes. A dog and a bitch. The bitch was poisoned when she was just 4 yrs old. That was heart breaking (we never found out how or when only that it was rat poison) Anyway the dog was lost without the bitch i think he was as heart broken as the rest of the family. We'd told the breaders what had happened but weren't expecting what happened next.

They just turned up out of the blue with a young bitch they'd rescued. Though we've never forgoton Zoochy to this day it did feel more like normal again. + The dog got a new lease of life and went on to live till he was 14yrs old, which is almost unheard of with Danes. In Fact he out lived Jema the first recue bitch and Betzy the second Rescued bitch.

They do get under your skin and become part of the family. Having had 4 beautiful dogs as pets and part of the family. I fully understand how you must be feeling and empathise with you.
