Chips....

Hello all,

I am about to purchase a reprogrammed ECU for my Z, and I have it down to 2 chips, the JWT ECU and the S.E chip.

I was wondering how many people have the JWT/S.E chips, and how do you find each? which one produces more power/torque? has anyone had both in their car? and how do they compare?

Thanks for your help,

Brian.

Brian I have the SE chip and all I can tell you is that I am very pleased with it,It makes one hell of a difference to your performance all round.

I'm waiting for my Blitz ECU to turn up at the moment (Johnny, if your reading, give me a ring tomorrow!)

I'll let you know what it is like when I have fitted it if you want.

Blitz ecu! That sounds very expensive?

JWT Chip can fulfil all your needs and more besides (in other words its the dog's bollocks) smile.gif

Brian, Coogs has had both the JWT&SE chip, and he said the SE one was better.

I think the Blitz ECU is about £600.

I'm not sure on how easy it is to change the ECU settings though e.g adding larger injectors and the like.

JWT have numerous pre-programmed chips for the various setups people have (twin MAF, NO2, big injectors etc). To upgrade yopu have to send your chip back for an exchange.

SE have a smaller number of variations and if you're doing anything wierd then they will modify one specifically for your car on the dyno. Benefit is of course that they're just down the road (relatively speaking). Think they will also be cheaper than JWT too and their chip is specifically programmed for UK fuel.

I currently have a JWT but I can see myself changing if Pete talks me into it.

Thanks for all the info so far guys, this Blitz chip sounds interesting too, can someone please post a price for the S.E chip, what power gains can I expect from it on my standard (save for a blitz intake) auto T.T?

Thanks again,

Brian

MAC 1 said he paid £225 for his SE chip, not sure how many horses it's supposed to add though. I think the figure 30bhp was meantioned.

After the Rolling Road day we should be able to put together a list of what mods equal what Bhp.

£225 for chip £4000 for rebuild. biggrin.gif S.E

Looks cheap enough but not sure how good it is. Do you need the additional chip as well as the boost upgrade for best results?

The major power gains come from the additional boost and less restrictive intake and exhaust. The chip does the tidying up afterwards and makes all the other bits work in harmony.

275 pounds to modify actuator???? Good god, now honestly no one can tell me thats not about 270 pounds to expensive.

Before you go out and get one do your research, there are many ecu tuners around

SARD / BLITZ / TOMEI / BRAIN / MINES (The best) / HASEMI SPORT /RS / IMPUL / JUN / MOTECH / KS / BEE R / PENTROOF / VEILSIDE / GRID, So your choice is very wide spread.

JWT chip seems to be the popular one here, because you can get hold of them and they have a good reputation.

I got the JWT quite a long time a go, primarily beacuse they are the only company to have be given the original code from Nissan and specify everything they change including cam angle etc. They are also the only company to supply chips for the SMZ 300 from new. Seamed like a safe option to me. They is also a nice upgrade path if you go to bigger injectors, or dual intake.

I also got JWT ECU tuned for 98 Octanes.

JWT is the only company that has the rights to modify the original Nissan code.

Its just safer I guess. wink.gif

JWT is not the only company to have rights i believe all those i mentioned are acredited with rights to all the code, where i believ jwt does not have all the code access (not trying to start anythign just what i have read)

OH and S.E certainly do not have biggrin.gif

Agree.

Wouldn't risk a Mines though. I always think that there's a clue in that name and Warren proved it !!!! smile.gif

he he he BOOM your right there andy p but it also put a nice power figur on my car, so i believ its worth it.

Worth it now, but you may have viewed it differently a few months back when you car was stranded in Rome and you had to fly home. wink.gif

How quickly time erases these unpleasant memories ! biggrin.gif
