gearbox excessive line pressure

just wondered if anyone has any experience of this in an Auto box,

My Gearbox has returned this as a fault code, and luckily Ive got a warranty as it was a new gearbox on the car, when I brought it.

the Car drives fine but pulls forward when you put it into Drive.

The gearbox chap says he wont know until he starts taking it apart.

just out of curiosity?

Most autos move when you put them in gear if you have your foot off the brake. Are the engine revs too high? As in idle speed. Its the converter that allows the car to remain still when you have it in gear and brake on, as the revs rise the oil is "pushed" harder by fins on the inside of the casing of the converter moving the stator, (prob wrong name) which in turn moves the input shaft etc. Later a clutch takes over but only at above approx 45mph, top gear etc. I am no expert but dont see why an excessively high line presure would give you the problem you have. Other probs yes, but not that one. IMHO of course.

you can buy a separate modification which deliberately increases autobox line pressure (HKS ALC2) at shift points. so i wouldnt think this would be a problem. how much does it pull forward - mine goes at 1 or 2mph when no throttle.

were talking about a proper violent pull forward at times and a bit of a jerk occaionally into 2nd

I can see big bills with it being something outside the gearbox knowing my luck..

thanks for the info

Just guessing here, but maybe the converter is jamming, mind you it would make a lot of noise I think..And make lots of metal bits, look in the oil carefully for a metalic look to it. (on the dipstick) Also you could run the revs up, in gear against the brakes, might finish it off but if its that its had it anyway....

when the car actually drives mate its lovely its just when you put it into drive and sometimes when it goes into 2nd its not so smooth.

on a morning start up the engine makes a scraping up and down noise not loud but you know its there. only until its warm then the whole thing is so quiet.

its had a oil change etc.

sounds like its coming from underneath the car???

thanks
