Different people have different opinions in the matter.

Pistons are very debateable.

Some say they are good for 600RWHP others say they are only good for 400 BHP. I guess it all depends on how well the car is tuned and how much detonation goes un noticed.

you've got to do all estimates at the fly I guess, as transmission losses will mean different results for different cars ect ect. therefore 450 at the wheels on two cars may be 600 at fly on one and 550 at the fly on another (or 1000bhp on 51x with his transmission losses ;))

Remember, engines can be over 10 years old and have 10 year old pistons and rings, this usually results in early failure purely due to age and wear over this period

so whats your view on what the internal components can deal with?? and is that at the wheels or crank??

I doubt anyone can give you that answer, one zed ay be able to handle 600BHP the next may be able to give you 450 at the fly

although there are zeds running 600bhp @ fly with stock internals, so thats a good starting point for testing the limit :D

There's a Z32 in Japan running ~850RWHP on stock internals. Fatigue is a major issue here. Weakest part (from my own experience) are the piston ring lands - no matter how well tuned this will be the first to break... If its not tuned properly, then you're just gonna put a hole in one or more pistons thanks to good old detonation ;)

Water Injection then? I have a kit, will be fitting it soon. I am only going to run about 14 and a bit so I know it doesnt NEED it but it will keep it cooler and stop detting. As has been said ten year old car needs looking after.
