Paypal question - email address doesnt exist?

Hi

 

I've just received payment from an ebay buy-it-now customer who has paid instantly by paypal.

 

Now what I normally do is reply to the paypal receipt confirmation email with a thankyou and letting them know their payment was received etc. With this one customer hotmail said their email address doesn't exist :confused: How can you have a working paypal account without the email address being an actual email address?

 

Has anyone experienced this? Is this just unusual or is there something funny going on?

 

I found a different address to reply to in the ebay confirmation email so replied that way, and the paypal payment has appeared in my account.
