Just like to know whether this is something I can do myself. I'm reasonably PC literate. I have just bought a laptop and want to migrate my normal PC onto this laptop. The laptop has been wiped completely (no operating system). The laptop has a floppy and CD-ROM. My normal PC has the same. I'm running win 98. I have the original windows 98 CD and key. Any advice much appreciated. If I could just get windows 98 running on the laptop that would be a good start.

Thanks

You could ghost your PC image onto your laptop. However then all the sound drivers, graphics drivers wont work. It will install new stuff onto the Laptop but it causes more conflicts that its worth.

It would be better to just start the Laptop from fresh and transfere the data from the PC to the laptop.

I wouldnt ghost it - the registry will get in an awful mess.....Install the O/S and then link the 2 machines together with some network cable or lap link and copy any data files across - Any applications you must re-install.

You run the risk of the laptop having all sorts of problems otherwise.
