What's this pipe do then?????

Noticed my Zed has been a bit underpowered over the last week or so. So went under the bonnet last night and found a very small pipe had come off under the RH side throttle body pipe at the top. Put it back on and F**K ME what a difference!!!!. What is this crappy little pipe and what does it do???.

Just trying to gain some knowledge guys (you don't realise how many pipes there are on these thing until you start looking for one that may have come off!!)

Is this the one people pull off to cheat your way through the emissions test ?

Simon, that pipe being off will have given you a nice little vacuum/boost leak wink.gif Check the one on the other side too - this one is a little harder to get to but isn't too bad..... When I fitted warrens turbo breather kit on saturday I noticed both his pipes were off but when I put them back on they were too easy to pull off so I just put a tie-wrap round each - not too tight, just enough to pinch it on. I think these are the hoses where the boost jets would go but could be wrong..... If they are then they go to the stock boost solenoids...

CheerZ,

Andy

No Andy, that pipe is on the balance bar - either the fuel damper vac line or the one (same diameter) on the back of the bar on the same side...

Si mate,

Still want the bits but just have to find a way of fitting them without further damaging my reputation at the old Norwich Union LOL

Glen.

The hose on the right side controls the EGR opening.

When it's not connected, the EGR will stay closed.

The left side one, controls the purging of the carbone canister.

Cheerz Andy for that info. Whatever it is for it has restored the cars power to normal.

It's next to a thicker pipe that runs into the intercooler hard pipe. I can't believe that such a small pipe could make such a reduction in performance.

Glen, no probs M8 they are waiting for you to collect when ready. I had the same dilemma when I had my Zed chipped and the exhaust done. I was honest and told them what I had done. They did not sting me for too much more and at least now have peace of mind. Good luck M8

Seez ya!!

Would this an impact on how the turbos work? It was loosing power and just did not seem to have the same kick after about 3000RPM.

Cause of the small diameter of those pipes, it shouldn't give any

noticeable difference when on boost.

The boost leak will be very small in comparison to the amount of air that the engine is consuming.

The idle could be affected though.

The above is just theoretically speaking of course... smile.gif
