Tracing a Vibration

What does a prop shaft vibration feel like?

I got this thing going on with my car. It's fine below 30mph, Then a fast, road speed connected vibration near the centre of the car rises. It's not very bad but is definitely there. Worst at 50 mph, better a bit at 70 and then sort of fades away a bit at 90. (not that I went that fast!)

If you think it is the prop shaft balancing, is it a big job.

I've just had the centre bearing replaced, but it has been OK for a few hundred miles and only started after a lay up of a month.........

Ideas please

I had a similiar problem, when i removed the prop I found that the front U/J was knackered. Not much but a slight bit of wear.

gearbox mount also sags with age and can leave the prop running at a less than perfect angle.

I'd also get the flange bolts on the prop all checked in case any are loose. Otherwise you might have a UJ failing

Couldnt be that they put the prop back on out of original position could it?

Most likely a uj as already said,Got to drop the prop to check em' properly-ie;

twist them in all directions and feel for stifness :eek: or play etc.As willie pointed out while your under there check the trans mount for sagging. ;)
