A lot of people have to remove the blanket, some people then have to cut into the bonnet with a dremel to make enough clearence

they dont tell you that in the adverts do they.

Greg ive got the same, removing blanket as i done yesterday helps but not a lot still doesnt close proper.

thanks people anyone know where i can get those mirror plates that go where the blanket goes seen them on TT.net not into foil just bling

I hit the touching points with a hammer and flatened them out. I dont think that's a good idea to remove the heat shield

Is that a courtesy strut?

Carefull! I know a guy who hammered the bonnet support bars until they were flat ... closed the bonnet and (although the strut didn't touch the underside of the bonnet anymore) he did have a few peculiar looking bumps on the otherside of the bonnet !!! :headvswal

And no, it wasn't me ...

I had this too but instead of messing with the insulation which gets marked or the bonnet itself I think it was better to get to top of the offending edges of the mounts ground away. OK so you need to re paint but better that than have these edges wear thru the bonner Then the bonnet closes properly with no strained gaps.

well mate i meant do it carefully not start hammering what ever u see i used a plastic hammer and u do it by a lot of hammering with low power

I've got the same problem but I've only fitted the RH bracket so far (waiting for fuel lines, now got them but it's too cold to work on the car!). Mine is a Courtesy brace with similar / same brackets as yours. There is a hole in the blanket where the bracket has worn through.

I think I'll grind the bracket as the bonnet is Al and I don't think it will take a lot of beating up. I'm sure it will rattle aftewards, sort of wish I didn't get the bloody thing now (brace, not car).

Has anyone who uses their car daily removed the blanket with no probs?

i've removed the blanket and ground the support away. Heat inside the engine seams to have reduced and the bonnet is still quite strong. I did leave a hammer on top of the engine so when i slammed my bonnet closed it left a nice bump! :xxx:
